MP180 - MP3 HDD

Q: Does MP180 support protected audio?
A: MP180 currently does not support protected audio from some music download site.  You need to convert a protected audio into a plain audio first for MP180 to play it. You would need to be able to play the protected audio on your computer (with proper DRM key) in order to convert it.

Q: When I connect MP180 to a PC, the PC does not recognize the drive?
A: Windows XP, 2000, ME can recognize MP180 automatically.  Windows 98SE requires a device driver to be installed first.

Please make sure to press the Library button when connecting to PC and use MP180 as an external HDD.  Or, you can press the Play button to use MP180 as a MP3 player while charging the battery with USB power.

Q. Why can't I power the unit on?
A: please make sure that you charge the battery for more than 4 hours on the first-time use. This will ensure the battery is fully functional.  You can charge the battery with the AC adapter or USB bus power.

Also, check the HOLD button location. If the HOLD button is in LOCK position, all key pressed will have no effect.

Q: How do I compile a play list?
A: MP180 comes with a utility program that will allow you to compile your own play lists.

Q: I can't install the utility program under Windows XP?
Q: If you see the following error message when trying to install the utility program

"16 bit Windows Subsystem - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

you can follow the instructions outlined in the link below  to correct the problem.

Q: How do I shuffle all my music collection?
A: The shuffle feature can shuffle music within a folder or all music under that folder and its subfolders.

If Shuffle is ON when you play a music file, all music within the same folder will shuffle.

If Shuffle is ON when you play a folder (press Play button when selecting a folder), all music under that folder and its subfolders will shuffle.

You can tell how many songs are in the play list by the looking at the number showing at the lower right corner of the display. When the display is showing xx/yy, xx is the current song in the list and yy is the total number of the songs in the list.

If you want to shuffle all the music, create another folder under MUSIC_ME folder, says MUSIC, and arrange all your music collection under the MUSIC folder. When playing, select MUSIC folder and press Play button with Shuffle ON will shuffle all your music collection.

A. You can use the utility program that came with MP180, or use other software like Windows Media Player V10.
